Connecting Young People with Businesses, Skills and Future Career Opportunities

The Future Ready Pledge is an exciting initiative that brings together local businesses and organisations to create meaningful opportunities for young people across Stoke-on-Trent. By connecting young people with employers, the pledge aims to provide valuable real-world career experiences, develop essential employability skills and inspire the next generation to explore their future career pathways.

With over 50 businesses already signed up, the initiative continues to grow, demonstrating a shared commitment to investing in young people and helping them prepare for the world of work. Through these partnerships, young people can gain practical experience, build confidence, develop professional networks and discover the wide range of career opportunities available within their local community.

A Safe Place to Call Home, A Foundation for a Brighter Future

At YMCA North Staffordshire, we provide a range of accommodation options for young people aged 16–24, offering a safe, supportive and welcoming environment where they can build confidence, develop independence and work towards a brighter future.

We recognise that every young person has different needs, which is why our accommodation services offer varying levels of support, from low-level assistance to more intensive support for those who need additional guidance. Our dedicated teams work alongside young people to help them develop essential life skills, access opportunities and take positive steps towards independent living.

Empowering Young Voices, Inspiring Future Leaders

We believe that young people should have a voice in the decisions that shape their lives, communities and futures. Our Youth Governance Group provides an exciting opportunity for young people aged 16–24 to develop their leadership skills, build confidence and play an active role in influencing positive change.

Through a range of projects, campaigns and collaborative activities, members gain valuable experience in leadership, decision-making, teamwork and communication. The group also plays an important role in shaping the design and delivery of our services, ensuring that the voices, experiences and ideas of young people remain at the heart of everything we do.

From engaging with local leaders and community organisations to developing youth-led initiatives, our Youth Governance Group empowers young people to become active participants in their communities, challenge barriers and make a meaningful difference.
