At YMCA North Staffordshire, our Youth Leaders programme brings together passionate young people who want to make a positive difference in their communities. Youth Leaders play an active role in shaping projects, supporting activities, influencing decisions and creating opportunities for other young people to thrive. Through hands-on experiences, workshops and leadership opportunities, they build confidence, develop valuable skills and become role models for their peers.
Being part of the Youth Leaders programme is a rewarding opportunity that provides training, personal development and the chance to have their voices heard. It is designed for young people who are motivated, eager to grow in confidence and committed to making a lasting impact through leadership, teamwork and community action.

Leading Change Through Youth Voice
YMCA NS Youth Forum
The Youth Forum is a safe and supportive space where young people living at YMCA North Staffordshire can have their voices heard and share their experiences, ideas and opinions. It gives young people the opportunity to talk openly about what is working well, what could be improved and how YMCA can continue to create the best possible environment for those who live here.
Led by young people, the Youth Forum encourages open discussion, teamwork and positive change. Members work together to raise important topics, suggest new ideas and help shape decisions that directly impact the YMCA community. The forum is supported by a dedicated Chair, who helps ensure meetings run smoothly and that everyone has the opportunity to speak, contribute and feel listened to.
Youth Governance team
Youth Gov is made up of passionate young people who are proud of where they come from and want to make a positive difference in their communities. They work together to represent the voices, opinions and experiences of young people across Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire, helping to influence change and shape opportunities for the future.
YMCA Youth Ambassadors
Youth Ambassadors are young staff members, residents and volunteers who come together to represent the voices, opinions and experiences of young people across YMCA North Staffordshire and YMCAs throughout England & Wales. Passionate about creating positive change, Youth Ambassadors play an important role in ensuring young people are listened to and involved in shaping the future of the organisation.
As part of the programme, Youth Ambassadors help influence the policies and priorities YMCA focuses on, while also taking part in local, national and international events. They act as spokespeople for young people, sharing real experiences, raising awareness of important issues and helping drive meaningful change within communities.
