On Friday, 24 July, YMCA North Staffordshire proudly welcomed hundreds of people to our Hanley campus for our very first BIG YMCA Day β and what an incredible success it was.
From the moment our doors opened, the campus was buzzing with excitement as families, young people and members of the local community came together to discover everything YMCA North Staffordshire has to offer. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the wide range of services we provide while creating a fun, welcoming day for everyone to enjoy.
Visitors explored our Y-Active Leisure Centre, Youth Hub and community spaces, taking part in a variety of activities including sports sessions, climbing, arts and crafts, digital experiences, family games and interactive workshops. There really was something for everyone, with smiles, laughter and plenty of memorable moments throughout the day.
The event also gave us the chance to connect with our community, answer questions and show that YMCA is so much more than many people realise. From supporting young people and families to promoting health and wellbeing, education, employment and independent living, BIG YMCA Day highlighted the positive impact our charity makes every day across North Staffordshire.
Our Chief Executive, Nichola Twemlow MBE, said:

Events like this simply wouldn’t be possible without the incredible dedication of our staff, volunteers, Youth Ambassadors and partners, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly. Their passion and commitment shone through in every conversation, activity and smiling face seen throughout the day.

After such an incredible response, we’re already looking back with pride and looking ahead with excitement to what the future could hold.
