At YMCA North Staffordshire, we are proud to be working in partnership with UKSE to support young people across our community into employment.

Thanks to funding provided by UKSE, we are able to offer Employability Bursaries to young people under the age of 25. This support is designed to remove some of the practical barriers that can stand in the way of securing work.
Through applications made directly to YMCA North Staffordshire, these bursaries can be used for essential items such as interview clothing or professional attire, travel costs to attend interviews or the first few weeks of employment, as well as basic equipment or tools needed for specific roles.
In addition, UKSE’s support enables young people to access important certifications, such as Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) cards, and to cover the cost of identification documents required for employment.
We are incredibly grateful to UKSE for their commitment to investing in young people and helping them take those important first steps into the world of work.
Steve Grice, UKSE Regional Manager Midlands, said:
As part of UKSE’s drive to help the local economy grow and prosper we recognise the significant difference which accessing small amounts can make to a young person looking to secure work so we were delighted to partner YMCA North Staffordshire to fund their programme.
Nicky Twemlow, CEO of YMCA North Staffordshire, added:
“The need to introduce this scheme was directly identified by young people to help remove the barriers which they face in securing employment. The flexibility of micro grants allows the YMCA to tailor support to each young person’s specific circumstances.”
