Young People Gain Valuable Work Experience at YMCA North Staffordshire

We welcomed Mason, Beryl, Riley and Yessi to YMCA North Staffordshire for their work experience placements, giving them the opportunity to explore the wide range of services and departments across our campus.

From learning how finance systems help keep services running smoothly, to seeing first-hand how the Resettlement Team supports individuals rebuilding their lives, each department gave the young people a valuable insight into the day-to-day work that takes place across the organisation. They also spent time with the Marketing Team creating content, capturing media, and helping to promote the positive work happening across YMCA North Staffordshire.

I have had a wonderful time doing work experience here at YMCA North Staffordshire. It has been great spending time across the different departments and learning more about the amazing work they do every day — especially the Marketing Team.

The sense of community here really stands out and it feels like one big family. Everyone has been so welcoming and supportive, and I’m really going to miss my time here.”

On Monday, the young people were also welcomed by our CEO, Nicky Twemlow, who met with them to provide an introduction to YMCA North Staffordshire, our mission, and the positive impact our organisation has across Stoke-on-Trent.

This is what Nicky said

It was fantastic to meet our work experience students and see the enthusiasm, creativity and confidence they brought to YMCA North Staffordshire throughout the week. Opportunities like this are so important in helping young people explore future career paths, develop new skills and feel inspired about what they can achieve.
