What is YES? – At YES, we’re dedicated to empowering Stoke-on-Trent’s young people (16-24) with opportunities to grow, thrive, and succeed. Together, we aim to guide them toward brighter futures – whether it’s through education, employment, or personal development.
By uniting local partners, we bring life-changing chances and pathways under one roof, making it easier for young people to say YES to their potential.
Our vision? A Stoke-on-Trent that proudly champions its young people, creating a community that always says ‘YES!’ to opportunity, growth, and success.
We provide flexible non-school (AP) for Key Stage 3 and 4 students who require support outside a traditional classroom environment. Our programme supports schools to re-engage young people with learning and work towards successful reintegration into mainstream education.
Our provision combines one-to-one SEMH support and or small group sessions in a calm and structured environment. Students take part in practical activities designed to build confidence, develop life skills, and improve engagement with learning.
Activities include sport, cooking, digital skills, podcasting, arts, and music. Alongside these sessions, we deliver workshops focused on behaviour, decision-making, confidence, resilience, friendships, and everyday life skills. Where appropriate, students may also work towards practical qualifications such as First Aid, Food Hygiene, or sports leadership.
All sessions take place at our YMCA campus using our youth hub, gym, and outdoor spaces. Sessions are delivered by trained staff, with safeguarding, behaviour management, and risk assessment procedures in place.
Placements are commissioned by schools, with tiered pricing based on the level of support, staffing ratios, and outcomes required for each student.
Referral Process
If you would like to refer a student to our non-school AP, please complete our referral form. This allows us to understand the young person’s needs, the outcomes your school is looking to achieve, and any safeguarding or support requirements.
Download the referral form, complete the details, and return it by email.
