At times it is necessary for authorities to remove a child from the care of its parents. This can happen for several reasons. Working in partnership with Stoke-on-Trent City Council, YMCA North Staffordshire offers intensive support to those parents who then go on to have additional children who may also become subject of a Child Protection Plan due to previous concerns.
We recognise that until parents are supported after the removal of a child, the gap left in their lives can mean they repeat this cycle of pregnancy/child removal. At YMCA North Staffordshire, we work with mothers and fathers to address the issues which are impacting on their ability to care for a child within the family home. The team supports mothers and fathers to make specific lifestyle changes to confidently enhance their ability to parent.
